Spring Planting Tips – Let’s Plant Trees!
As the snow melts and the warm spring sun rises, planting season begins! Planting trees isn’t just helping the environment, but they’re also a beautiful way to improve your landscaping! Knowing the best practices when planting trees will help your trees thrive!
April is typically the ideal month to plant trees due to favorable environmental conditions that promote strong root establishment and healthy growth. During this time, natural precipitation levels tend to be higher, ensuring that young trees receive the moisture necessary to develop a strong root system without excessive manual watering. Additionally, the mild temperatures of early spring create a stable and stress-free environment, allowing trees to adjust to their new surroundings without the extreme heat of summer or the harsh cold of winter. The soft sunlight of April also plays a crucial role, providing enough energy for photosynthesis while preventing excessive drying or scorching of delicate new growth. By planting in the spring, you give your trees the best chance to thrive and establish themselves before the more challenging conditions of summer.
Planting Tips:
- Dig a hole 3x the width of the root ball and 2x as deep
- Water the tree thoroughly after planting
- Add a layer of mulch to protect the roots

Tradeshow Update
As the year is coming to a close, our first show season as HCxCHG is winding down. We are thrilled to have had a great turnout with representation at over 20 shows! As a team, we showcased our new catalog and introduced new products, while also sharing our collaborative efforts through new booth materials. The positive feedback from customers about our new product selection has generated a lot of excitement around our new partnership. We are eagerly looking forward to the next season as we continue to settle into this new adventure as a team!

Obviously, planting is our specialty! But let’s look at some fun ways we can enjoy plants as the weather gets colder! Fall planting can be ideal if you’re hoping to get a good root system established for the spring!
Reusing your Pumpkin
Did you know you can reuse your Jack-o-lantern for sustainable planting? After the trick or treating is done, plant your favorite bulbs or plants inside of your pumpkin! Pumpkins double as a great biodegradable planter! As your pumkin breaks down in the soil, it adds nutrients to the soil creating a nutrient dense environment for your favorite plants to thrive!
Creating Compost
Turn your leftover pumpkin into nutrient rich compost by adding it to your compost bin! If you’re thinking of using your pumpkin as compost, make sure you remove ALL of your seeds, or you’ll have your own little pumpkin patch next autumn!
